Spend the Holidays at the Woodlands Children’s Museum

SPEND THE HOLIDAYS AT THE WOODLANDS CHILDREN'S MUSEUMTHE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Children’s Museum will be all decked out for the holidays. The calendar is full of fun activities, as well as a number of workshops for children ages 4 through 8.

Mark your calendars for:

Falltivities! These half-day and full-day workshops for Thanksgiving are designed to delight young minds with the spirit of fall. Children may try printmaking with corn husks and pumpkins or creating artistic Thanksgiving snacks. Sign your child up for morning or afternoon sessions. To enroll in both sessions, register for the “lunch bunch.” Admission is $34 per session for members and $54 for non-members. Lunch bunch is an additonal $5 per day. Check the website for times and dates – or pick up a brochure at the museum.

Winter Funcation The museum offers morning and afternoon classes for children ages 4 to 8 years old  during winter break to keep those young minds active and entertained. Sign up for “Paper Antics” to learn how to create art from recycled objects or “Winter Snack Attack” to learn how to make decorative bites. Other courses include “A Box of Ideas,” “Princess and Pirate Play,” “Winter WonderFUN,” “International Holiday Festival” and “From Trash to Treasure.” Visit the website for times and dates of the various workshops, held from Dec. 28 to Jan. 3. Parents may pick and choose courses for their children to attend. Classes are $34 for members and $54 for non-members.

Pancakes With Santa Reserve a space for 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at The Woodlands Children’s Museum to celebrate the holidays over an all you can eat pancake breakfast buffet with all the fixin’s. Join Santa Claus for pancakes, deliver letters to the North Pole, create a variety of art projects and enjoy live music by Tom’s Fun Band. Don’t forget to visit with our favorite Christmas elves – Harmony the Clown and Abby the monkey. After the event, stay and play at the museum. Presale tickets are available for $30 for children and $15 for adults.

Mrs. Claus’ Gingerbread House Workshop Children will create and take home their own gingerbread houses while mingling with Mrs. Claus from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 or Saturday, Dec. 21. Plus Frozen Bliss will provide hot chocolate and special holiday shaved ice flavors. All the supplies for the gingerbread houses are provided, and the cost to attend is $5 above normal museum admission per person.

Drop and Shop Workshop While parents finish up their last minute shopping, children are invited for a fun time at the museum. They can create projects to give as gifts and enjoy milk and cookies. The workshops are scheduled for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22 and from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, Dec. 23. Admission is $34 for members and $54 for non-members.

High Noon Countdown Ring in the New Year at the museum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 for the annual High Noon Countdown party!  Live Music will be provided by Tom’s Fun Band. There will also be a variety of games, art projects, Bubble Wrap Dancing and a balloon and confetti drop at the  stroke of noon.

“The Woodlands Children’s Museum is the place to be for winter break,” executive director Angela Colton said. “We hope the community joins us during the break from school and sees all that the museum has to offer.”

There are also opportunities to support the museum during the holidays. The Wreath Whimsy Fundraiser is scheduled from Nov 4 to Dec. 20. The wreaths are 24-inches, double-faced, freshly grown by a family owned tree farm and elegantly embellished by museum staff. The price per wreath is $79. There are also table-top arrangements for $29.

The Woodlands Children’s Museum offers “Wrap It Up” — a gift wrapping service — as a part of their annual holiday fundraising. Deliver your items to the museum Nov. 4 through Dec. 22 and choose from three themed giftwraps: Classic Christmas, Totally Tinsel or Whimsical. Orders will be completed within 48 hours of drop-off.
