THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands LearningRx, owned by Kim Bellini and Beth Buzbee, has been named the 2013 Small Business of the Year, Lone Star College-Montgomery, by the  Lone Star College System Small Business Development Center Advisory Council.

Dr. Austin Lane, president of Lone Star College-Montgomery, presented the award to Bellini and Buzbee Thursday evening, November 14, at the 27th annual Small Business Awards Banquet held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott.

“We congratulate The Woodlands LearningRx for winning a 2013 Lone Star College System Small Business of the Year Award,” said Lane. “They are a shining example of what it takes to make a small business succeed.”

Former teachers, Kim Bellini and her mother, Beth Buzbee, started The Woodlands LearningRx in 2008.

“As teachers, we sometimes felt there were children we could not reach,” said Bellini. “We wanted to address the underlying cognitive skills important for learning. That’s when we decided to start The Woodlands LearningRx, where we offer one-on-one brain training to help children and adults reach their maximum potential.”

The brain-training center has seen steady growth, expanding their office space by nearly 1,000 square feet to accommodate the growing client base. In recognition of high customer satisfaction, the LearningRx national headquarters in Colorado has presented the center with five consecutive Customer Service Awards.

Bellini and Buzbee are regular participants in charitable and community events, including Panther Creek Inspiration Ranch, Parents Supporting Parents of Texas, The Connections Project, The Woodlands Children’s Museum, International Reading Association, Montgomery County Memorial Library System, and numerous chambers of commerce and networking organizations. Bellini is a regular contributor for “Kidnnected Magazine” and is a charter member of the Conroe Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to building her own business, Bellini serves as a valued mentor to a growing network of LearningRx franchisees in the Greater Houston area.

The Woodlands LearningRx offers brain-training programs for students of all ages  — programs that enhance students’ ability to learn, read and succeed in a broad range of academic and work-related challenges, as well as programs for senior citizens who want to stay sharp and improve their quality of life. The center is located at 4840 Panther Creek. For more information, contact (832) 482-3082 or visit https://www.learningrx.com/the-woodlands.
