Santa’s Workshop, S’mores by the Lake, Carolers and More Ring in the Christmas Season at La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa

MONTGOMERY, TX – La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa, the premier Texas retreat, will celebrate the Christmas season with two weeks of free family activities, beginning December 9, 2013, that celebrate the spirit, lights and songs of the season.

Open Daily December 9 – 31

Bring an unwrapped toy or non-perishable item to the resort’s lobby, December 9 – December 31, and your family will be presented with a special gingerbread tile to decorate in Santa’s Workshop.  Once decorated, each tile will wrap an oversized, “Tiles for Tots” Gingerbread House on display at the resort.  Bring two unwrapped toys or two canned food items and receive two tiles to decorate.  Participants also can enter a drawing to win a spa treatment or golf for four.  Great fun on the weekends or during the school holidays.  All donations benefit Montgomery County Child Protective Services.

Lighting of the La Torretta Floating Christmas Tree

Nightly December 9 – December 19 at 5:30 p.m.

Each night from December 9 – December 19 starting at 5:30 p.m., Resort guests and families can gather on La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa’s private lake inlet beach to illuminate a magical floating Christmas tree, a string of lights affixed to a sailboat extending 30 feet in the air to create the image of a floating tree.  While at the lighting, guests can enjoy complimentary S’mores, hot chocolate, and fresh-baked cookies.

To add to the festive setting, several members of the resort’s staff, including a classically-trained singer, Christine O’ Hagan, and a professional opera singer, Heath Lagrone, will lead the crowd in classic holiday carols.

Afterward, head into Santa’s Workshop for a complimentary presentation of a classic Christmas movie.

“The 12 “Plates of Christmas”

La Torretta’s all-new Lakeside Restaurant & Bar, with its beautiful sunset views over Lake Conroe, will pay tribute to “The 12 Days of Christmas” with the “The 12 Plates of Christmas,” a unique dish themed after the twelve gifts “my true love sent to me.”

On the first day, December 13, for “a partridge in a pear tree,” Lakeside Restaurant will present a Pear Tart with Brandy Brittle Ice Cream.  On the fourth day, December 16, the restaurant will salute “four calling birds” with Cedar Planked Quail with Dried Apricot and Caramelized Onion Chutney over Charred Pine Needles.   A Traditional Tres Leches Cake is the feature on the eighth day, December 20, for “eight maids a milking” while Duck Drums Confit with Smoked Tomato and Jalapeno Jam will be presented on the twelfth day, December 24, for “twelve drummers drumming.”

Lakeside Restaurant & Bar at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa is open daily for dinner, Monday – Saturday, from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.
