Market Street Announces Non-Profit Partners for 2014 Change for Charity Program

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Four Montgomery County charities will benefit from the thousands of dollars in change inserted in Market Street’s voluntary parking meters throughout 2014 as the shopping, dining and entertainment destination announces the beneficiaries of next year’s Change for Charity program.

Every three months, a new Montgomery County non-profit organization will benefit from the program which collects the coins deposited into Market Street’s 68 voluntary curbside parking meters.

“The Change for Charity program is part of the experience that is unique to Market Street,” says Jenny Taylor, assistant general manager at Market Street.  “Our shoppers appreciate the opportunity to make a voluntary contribution to a worthwhile cause in exchange for a curbside parking place.”

The program’s first-quarter beneficiary, Montgomery County Search & Rescue, is made up of professionally trained volunteers who work with law enforcement agencies to help in various situations such as lost or missing persons, drowning victims, hiking accidents, swift water and wilderness rescue.

The Education for Tomorrow Alliance, the program’s second-quarter recipient, connects business with local educators, mentors today’s students for tomorrow’s workplace, and engages community volunteers to inspire youth for success.

Market Street’s Change for Charity third-quarter beneficiary, Montgomery County Youth Services, helps youth and families address matters such as conflicts at home, runaways, peer pressure, self-esteem issues, abuse and neglect.

The fourth-quarter beneficiary, Children’s Cancer Recovery Foundation, helps families fight cancer by providing emergency financial assistance, toys and games to kids hospitalized for cancer treatment, and camp scholarships for children in remission.

Since the inception of the Change for Charity program, Market Street patrons have donated more than $75,000 to local Montgomery County charities, providing funds for organizations benefiting the health and welfare of children, adults and families in need.
