THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Interfaith Community Clinic is excited to announce Elizabeth Smart will be the guest speaker at the first annual “Women Empowering Women” luncheon to be held from 11:30AM to 1:00 PM at The Woodlands Country Club – Palmer Course on Friday, May 2, 2014.  Proceeds from the event, “Overcoming Adversity:  The Elizabeth Smart Story” will benefit the Interfaith Community Clinic.

The abduction of Elizabeth Smart was one of the most followed child abduction cases of our time. At the tender age of 14, just before she was to celebrate her middle school graduation, Elizabeth went to sleep in her family home as she had always done. Awakened hours later to a knife held roughly against her throat, she was taken from her home and family and held captive for nine long months. In this captivating message, Elizabeth shares her incredible story of perseverance in the face of unimaginable adversity. Her speech not only tells her personal story, but also discusses topics such as overcoming adversity, the importance and process of recovery, and not allowing your past to dictate your life’s future. Elizabeth knows that there is nothing more important than having hope in a difficult situation. Having lived through an extreme circumstance as a young teenager, Elizabeth gives great insight and hope to all

“We are absolutely thrilled that Elizabeth Smart will be sharing her incredible story. We are honored to have her as our special guest at this inaugural event for the Interfaith Community Clinic,” said Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of the Interfaith community Clinic. The Interfaith Community Clinic opened its doors in 1996 to meet the medical needs of the uninsured population. As the needs of the community have grown, so have the services offered at the clinic. Today, the clinic continues to provide quality basic medical and dental care, counseling and patient services to individuals in need. A volunteer staff of licensed physicians, nurses, medical providers, dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, as well as translators and support personnel work together to provide patient care. Programs are provided free of charge and are funded by the generous financial support of grants, faith based organizations, businesses, civic groups, and individuals.
