The Woodlands Town Center Ice Rink Sets Another Attendance Record

Ice Skaters 2013-2014 Season_DSC6296THE WOODLANDS, TX  – The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center once again set a season attendance record with a 15-percent jump in average daily skaters over its 2012 totals en route to topping the 50,000-skater mark for the first time. The 2013 total skater count is even more impressive considering The Ice Rink was open for one less week this year since Thanksgiving 2013 was a week later than it was in 2012.

“To break the 50,000 skater mark with a week less than the previous year speaks volumes about the popularity of this attraction for residents as well as those from outside The Woodlands,” said Nick Wolda, president of The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center attracted 50,583 skaters, an average of 829 a day in 61 days of operation from November 23, 2013 – January 20, 2014 as well as the Preview Weekend, November 16 – 17, 2013.  In 2012, the Ice Rink attracted 49,318 in 68 days of operation, an average of 725 skaters a day.

“The Ice Rink continues to play a major role in presenting The Woodlands as a regional destination,” Wolda adds. “It’s also important in terms of helping draw customers to our restaurants and retailers.”

According to the CVB, 62 percent of skaters resided from outside of The Woodlands and there were 830 different zip codes represented, based on surveys completed at The Woodlands Ice Rink.

Besides its unique standing as one of the largest seasonal outdoor ice rinks in the southwest, The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center is one of the better buys for families during the holiday season, thanks to a Frequent Skater Card, Buy-One-Get-One-Free coupons, daily promotions and The Woodlands Voyager Pass for residents. .
