St. Baldrick’s Foundation event to raise money for lifesaving research

THE WOODLANDS, TX –The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, will host one of its signature head-shaving events at The Goose’s Acre Bistro & Irish Pub on March 9, 2014, where we anticipate more than 100 will shave their heads in solidarity with kids with cancer and raise money to Conquer Childhood Cancers!

Why all the shaved2013 st bald (5) heads? Worldwide a child is diagnosed with cancer every three minutes, and one in five children diagnosed in the U.S. will not survive. With only 4 percent of all federal cancer research funding dedicated to pediatric cancer research, St. Baldrick’s Foundation volunteers, supporters and donors are needed to continue the battle against this devastating disease.

We will have several pediatric oncologists from the Houston Area who receive funding from St. Baldrick’s. They will explain the importance of pediatric cancer research. We will have several pediatric cancer families at our event. In particular, Kaden Serafin & his fa2013 st bald (76)mily will be joining us for the third year. Kaden was diagnosed in January of 2012 with Ewing Sarcoma. Kaden is still undergoing cancer treatment at MD Anderson.

This event has taken place at The Goose’s Acre since 2007. At our 2013 event, we shaved 91 heads & raised almost $58,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. At our event, we will also have a Silent Auction and we will be selling St. Baldrick’s t-shirts. Go online to register to volunteer or shave https://www.StBaldricks.org/events/mypage/190/2014.
