Small Ensemble Summer Workshop Featuring The Fidelis Quartet For Ages 11-18

Aug2013 Summer Workshop RecitalHOUSTON, TX – Virtuosi of Houston is sponsoring a summer workshop offering specialized small ensemble training for talented violin, viola and cello musicians ages 11-18 who play at an intermediate level or higher.  Beginning Monday, June 9 through Friday, June 20, the two week program will be held from 2PM until 6PM at the Virtuosi Studio, 303 Memorial City Way (77024).

The Fidelis Quartet, composed of four Houston Symphony musicians, is the faculty for the program. Musicians in the ensemble include violinists Rodica Gonzalez and Mihaela Frusina, violist Wei Jiang and cellist Jeffrey Butler.  This quartet made its debut at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall in 2005 and was invited back to perform in 2011. Frank Huang, Concertmaster for the Houston Symphony, will conduct a 3-hour master class.  Additional master classes by other professionally renowned musicians will be held during the two week program.

The program will group young musicians into small quartet ensembles which will be assigned their own piece of music.  Each ensemble will receive personal coaching on their assigned piece by the professional faculty. The two-week program will end with a final recital at the Virtuosi Studio including the young musician quarter ensembles and the Fidelis Quartet faculty.

The cost for the two-week program is $650. For more information call 713 807.0888 or email virtuosi@virtuosiofhouston.org.
