The 2014 Woodlands Celebration of Excellence Gala Honorary Chair Announced

Dr. Don Stockton has been named the Honorary Chair of The Woodlands Celebration Excellence Gala honoring the 2014 Hometown Heroes.

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Celebration of Excellence is excited to announce Dr. Don Stockton has been selected as the Honorary Chair for the 2014 gala for his exceptional dedication and contributions to our community.

“His commitment to helping others is simply remarkable. His vision and leadership for education has truly transformed CISD, and the committee and our community are honored to have him serve as the Honorary Chair of this incredible event,” said Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of the non-profit organization. Dr. Stockton served CISD in many capacities before being appointed to Superintendent of Schools in 2003. His leadership enabled CISD to receive the Gold Leadership Circle Award four years in a row, and the Texas Honors Circle District Award three years in a row. Interfaith honored Dr. Stockton for his accomplishments in education at its annual Five Who Share luncheon in May of 2007.

“I am honored to be a part of the Hometown Heroes event that recognizes and celebrates the hard work of our outstanding community volunteers,” shared Dr. Don Stockton.

The Woodlands Celebration of Excellence Gala recognizes outstanding community volunteers, who through their passion and dedication, are role models for others. The 2014 Hometown Hero honorees will be inducted into the Hometown Heroes Hall of Fame during the gala which will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center beginning @ 6:00 pm.

Nomination forms for the 2014 Hometown Heroes will be available in The Villager newspaper; may be picked up at The Woodlands Homefinder Center, located at 2000 Woodlands Parkway; Interfaith of The Woodlands, located at 4242 Interfaith Way; or online at www.thewoodlands.net and www.woodlandsinterfaith.org. The deadline for the nomination is Friday, August 15, 2014.
