Houston’s Second Indoor Skydiving Tunnel “iFly” Opens in Oak Ridge North

iFLY Indoor Skydiving has opened its second
indoor skydiving facility in North Houston April 10. The new vertical wind tunnel is located
at 26860 N. I-45 in Oak Ridge North, on the I-45 access road, just south of the
Woodlands Parkway. The first iFLY Houston location opened in Memorial at 9540 Katy
Freeway, earlier this year.

The Oak Ridge North tunnel will be a new model rollout, with the flight chamber and
all other amenities sitting at ground level. The glass flight chamber is 37.5%
taller than other iFLY tunnels, sitting at 18 feet tall (5.5 meters), providing an
unprecedented flying experience and viewing for non-flyers.

flights online. Indoor skydiving is an ideal activity for birthday parties,
corporate events, date nights and overall family fun. iFLY Oak Ridge North will
offer an accredited STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education program,
for grades 2-12, that teaches and educates students understand gravity, drag and
other principles of physics and flight in a fun and interactive environment
utilizing a flight experience.

At iFLY, flyers from ages 3 to 103, can feel the rush of freefall skydiving without
the risk of jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. Following a brief training
session, flyers are outfitted in a jumpsuit, helmet and goggles before entering the
wind tunnel with their certified instructor. Flyers do not jump or fall, but simply
lean into the wind tunnel and float on the column of air. During the flight they
will learn basic flying skills, like moving forward and back and turning. With
additional training, flyers can progress to more advanced aerial maneuvers and group
flying.
