The Young Entrepreneurs Network has chosen the Montgomery County Food Bank as their spotlight charity.

First up to speak was special guest Rodney Dickerson, President and CEO of the Montgomery County Food Bank who spoke about the different types of hunger facing Montgomery County and how many people believe food banks only help homeless or people who are extremely poor, but don’t realize they do much more

Although they do help the homeless and extremely poor, in actuality there are people right here in the community we live in and surrounding areas that have full time jobs and get up and go to work every day just like you and I, but do not make enough income to put food on the table for themselves and their families. The Montgomery County Food Bank also helps people in those situations.

Dickerson also spoke about the need for volunteers and utilizing talents from some of those right here in the community who may work in professional areas and have skill and talents that could help the food bank and feed the hungry.

Keynote speaker Jason Higham, branch manager of Cherry Creek Mortgage hosted a developmental seminar called “Tearing Down Walls to Explode Your Career” speaking about his own journey, successes, battles and accomplishments you’ll face as an entrepreneur, filled with transparent inspiration and advice.

Higham also spoke about how we can attack this next year with intellect, strong work ethics and love. Cherry Creek Mortgage on behalf of Jason Higham pledged $200 to the Montgomery County Food Bank and challenged other partners and businesses attending the event to do the same.

When arriving at the check in table there was a jar to place business cards in. Cards were later in the evening drawn and announced to determine the winners of gifts provided by The Woodlands Young Entrepreneurs Network partners and sponsors. Below are pictures of the winners.

Partners and sponsors of the event included:
