If you are a local to The Woodlands, chances are you’re familiar with Town Green Park.

It’s one of the hottest spots in the The Woodlands for events, festivals, concerts and cook-offs. Town Green Park is also a great place to just relax on a beautiful day or listen to a concert happening at the Pavilion with friends if you didn’t buy tickets.

With all this hustle and bustle at such a beautiful park, the upkeep on the grass is a major and critical thing to keep it looking up to par with The Woodlands standards.

The Woodlands Township recently announced the renovation of the turf grass and drainage system at Town Green Park was in the near prospective future, and without much hesitation this project began on July 7, 2016.

According to The Woodlands Township, “this new turf system will allow for better management of rain events, improved drainage and the ability to support high levels of pedestrian use. These improvements are due in part to the numerous community events being held at Town Green Park.”

“The project will consist of excavating approximately 5 inches of existing ground, then rebuilding with a drain system (sand and aggregate material), a 1.5-inch plastic grid system and then sodded with natural grass. This system will prevent compaction, allowing water to penetrate the soil and protect the crown of the grass plant. The overall result of these efforts will be decreased issues with turf quality, a reduction in muddy areas within the turf and an anticipated reduction in costs to renovate the turf, after events.”

“The renovation project began in Town Green Park on July 7, 2016, and is expected to take approximately two months, with an anticipated reopening by Labor Day weekend, 2016. A similar project is slated for Northshore Park at a later date.”
