Karaoke & Cocktails for a Cause is a first-of-its’ kind pediatric cancer fundraising event in The Woodlands, Texas honoring Taylor Uresti, with 100% of the net proceeds benefiting The Pinky Swear Foundation.

The Pinky Swear Foundation aims to ease the financial & emotional impact experienced by children with cancer and their families by providing basic needs financial support during a very challenging time.

According to Eric Uresti, a long time Woodlands resident, and father of Taylor Uresti, “It’s difficult to imagine what life is like to have a child going through cancer, and this is why the Pinky Swear programs are so important. They do not limit requests from families in need, nor discriminate on socioeconomic status, as childhood cancer impacts all walks of life. When cancer enters life, the simple, everyday things aren’t so simple anymore”.

In August 2010, Taylor was diagnosed with Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) when she was four-years old.

Roughly 3,100 children in the U.S. are diagnosed each year with ALL, which is a fast growing blood cancer of lymphocyte-forming cells called lymphoblast’s that dramatically suppress the immune system’s ability to heal itself.
Upon Taylor’s diagnosis, the leukemia had spread to roughly 90% of her body. Over the course of the next 2 years (typical treatment protocol is approximately 8 to 12 months), she overcame every challenge, hair loss, chemotherapy complications, and emergency room visits.

In December of 2012, two and a half years after diagnosis, Taylor’s cancer was in remission. Recently, on July 6th, 2016 she completed her final hospital clinic visit, confirming that she still remains in remission today. Taylor is a healthy and thriving 5th grader, active in sports, and enjoying the things that typical 10-year olds love to do.
Throughout the difficulties, trials, and setbacks experienced in having a child fighting a cancer diagnosis, one admirable theme that Taylor carried in her attitude on a daily basis was: ‘You never know how STRONG you are, until being Strong is the only choice you have”, said her dad. “We want to be creative in how we go about bringing awareness to pediatric cancer and the financial toll it takes on almost every family impacted. Since Karaoke has become such a popular activity, we wanted to turn this unique event unlike any other here in The Woodlands area, into a fundraising format, and help raise critically needed money for a good cause”, concluded Eric Uresti.

Please join us Thursday, November 10th from 7pm-11:30pm at Dosey Doe Big Barn, 25911 North Freeway, located in The Woodlands for an incredible night of karaoke, cocktails, and fun in honoring Taylor Uresti to benefit the Pinky Swear Foundation’s overall mission of helping families in need.
