Woodlands Toastmasters Invites You to Join Them

Meeting Every Friday Morning – Open to the public

Woodlands Toastmasters, invites anyone interested in public speaking to its regular weekly meeting to meet members and experience firsthand one of their award winning meetings to learn about the importance of communication skills for today’s professional.

In these meetings you can expect a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to develop their communication and leadership skills,” says Anh Jorgensen, Club President for Woodlands Toastmasters. “

Members and guests will enjoy a regular Toastmasters meeting that will include prepared speeches, Table Topics™ (impromptu speeches) and evaluations.

1^st up for the meeting is the Prepared Speeches portion. In this portion of the meeting 3 or 4 of our members will give speeches they have prepared beforehand. This is always an exciting part of the meeting. Our members will be giving speeches based on their respective courses selected in the Toastmaster educational toolset called Pathways. Pathways is available to use by all members to guide in their personal and professional development as public speakers.

The 2^nd portion of the meeting is called Table Topics. “Table Topics are one of my favorite parts of the meeting,” says Jorgensen. “This is where members are randomly selected to speak for one to two minutes. It helps you think and speak clearly on your feet.” Don’t worry, guests will not be required to speak, unless of course you volunteer!

Last but certainly not least is the Evaluation portion of the meeting. In this section members who have signed up will give a short 2-to-3-minute evaluation of the prepared speeches. This feedback is always positive and is an amazing component to help our members progress on their Toastmasters journey.
